Lake Chabot Fishing Report
4-6-2016
Lake Chabot Marina
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Water level is about 85% of full. Fishing is starting to pick back up again. Limits of trout are starting to come out of Chabot again. Several nice sized trout were caught over by Raccoon Point including two weighing 4 lbs. Anglers are experiencing some warm weather conditions this upcoming week, a good sign for anglers. Water temperature remains in the low 50’s and water clarity is about 3 feet visibility. The visibility of the water should clear up in the next couple of days depending on the weather.
All of our boats are half off Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays!
CATFISH
Catfishing is slow this time of the year, but there was a couple of catfish reported getting caught this past week. Typically, catfishing this time of the year is fairly slow. Catfishing conditions will improve when the water temperature starts to warm back up.
TROUT
Limits of trout are keeping anglers busy again. Several nice sized limits are reported getting caught. Both trolling and fishing the shorelines have been doing well. The first dock, on the west shore trail, have been keeping anglers busy in the morning and trolling across from Raccoon Point has been doing the trick. Trolling seems to be the best bet, by trolling a Firetiger Rapala close to the shore, across from Raccoon point. Please follow our Facebook page to keep updated on fishing conditions.
BASS
With the warm weather we are expecting this upcoming week, bass fishing should be great. Bass fishing already has been steady for the last several weeks with some bass anglers catching and releasing good numbers. If you do want to try your luck, good spots to fish for bass are near the island or in Bass Cove using a drop shot rig. Please practice catch and release for bass, as they are not stocked into the lake and their population depends on you!
We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to the Marina. Please email us at swong@calparksco.com. Thanks again for choosing Lake Chabot as your recreation destination.
