TROUT BITE
Anglers reported the trout bite best during the morning hours (before 10 a.m.). Fish for bass, catfish, or panfish until the trout bite picks up again around 2 p.m. Anglers were catching trout using PowerBait (Salmon Egg or Rainbow) or Atomic Teasers (Grasshopper). Hermit Cove buoy line continues to be the most productive spot for trout fishermen on boats. The campground shoreline is best for shore fishermen because of the water depth. Our last trout stocking of the season is this week. 1000 lbs. of Sierra Bows— 10% of the stock is trophy trout! Lightning trout are still being caught 3 weeks after we stocked them!
FISHING FOR BASS
Boats line up along Shadow Cove shoreline to fish in the tree cover. Although no catches have been reported to the rangers, we assume their persistence has paid off!
CATFISH & PANFISH
Catfish had been hanging around Hermit Cove for a couple weeks but seem to have moved into deeper waters. Catfish are typically caught with chicken liver or cut mackerel.
CATCHES OF THE WEEK
Matthew Brase reeled in this 3.5 lbs. trout using garlic scented PowerBait. He was fishing near the Hermit Cove buoy line. Troy Valade fished the campground shoreline with his dad this weekend. Their best catch was this 9 lbs. bass! Nice job! Michael Munson reeled in this 3.2 lbs. catfish on an inflated night crawler along the Hermit Cove shoreline.
