Lake Camanche Fishing Report
4-4-2016
Lake Camanche Staff
The bass bite has remained strong as anglers follow the bass to warmer shallow areas for spawning. Trout anglers have to go deeper as the water temperatures continue to rise…depending on locations between 64-67 degrees. The catfish bite is starting to come on as anglers also follow them to warmer shallow areas for spawning. I’m told to look for shallow areas with deep drop offs for the best catfish by a local angler.
Warm temperatures are melting the snowpack and with Pardee's releases into Lake Camanche the water level continues to rise. Pardee Lake is 97% full and is releasing 1,350 C.F.S. as of this report. Camanche is releasing 320C.F.S. which as of this report makes the lake 36.13′ to spill level.
North Shore Main Courtesy Ramp is now open!
South Shore Courtesy Ramp has moved to Low Water Ramp #1.
EBMUD is taking advantage of the low water at the main south shore ramp to build a new ADA accessible walkway to the ramps.
The race is on to see if they can get it completed before the water gets up that high….
1,200 lbs. of Mt. Lassen trout were planted on Thursday 3/31/16 with 600 lbs. going into the pond and 600 lbs. into the main lake. To date, a total of 41,100 pounds of rainbows, including 14,500 pounds into the pond. 1,200 lbs. are expected again this week before the weekend.
