Royal Polaris Crew
Headed For Cabo
At about 2:00 this afternoon we reeled in the lines for the final time and began our cruise to Cabo. I wish I could tell you that we ended the trip with a strong finish but the total for the day was only 3 tuna and 1 wahoo. Ok, I know what you’re thinking. It was the last few hours of fishing and everyone was more interested in breaking down their tackle than spending time at the rail. You would be mistaken in that assumption because there were some real incentives to fish hard today. When it became obvious that it was going to be a tough day Jack upped the ante for catching a good fish.
Due to the over whelming generosity of our host, Frank felt it necessary to offer a very nice incentive of his own. There were various weights and rules involved for each prize which I won’t bore you with, but at one point IF, (and admittedly it’s was a very iffy if),you caught a 300 pounder on bait, you would receive an Accurate reel of your choice up to a 50 wide, a Boss 2 speed Accurate reel, a pair of Accurate Piranha pliers, and 500 dollars off your next fishing trip on the R.P. As you can imagine that was plenty to keep us all glued to the rail till the end. The most attainable of the prizes was the trip discount offered by Frank for the first fish over 75 pounds and it turned out to be the only one claimed by none-other than the fishing Frenchman, Francois who caught an estimated 109 pounder which was the biggest of the 3 landed today. Not the last stand that we would have wanted, but we sure tried our hardest to end with a bang.
The task of packing up has begun and we will have all day tomorrow to complete it. Today was probably the choppiest day of the trip but still warm and sunny. The ride to the Cape might not be as smooth as we’d like it, but still very tolerable. Today is Jack’s birthday and all on board as well as all of you who know him will share in giving him our best wishes. My last report and wrap up will be tomorrow as I will be vacationing and getting well needed R&R in Cabo with my wife Rachel.
POEM OF THE DAY
I went down with a bait on a sinker
And felt something start to tinker
Off my reel the line slid
But it was only a squid
My sinker had landed an inker.
