Lake Berryessa Fishing Report

2-11-2016
Lake Berryessa News

Started the day launching out of Markley Cove at safe light. We began heading towards the main body and was hit with heavy fog. We pulled over in the narrows and decided to fish until it was safer to make the run into the main lake. We stared throwing reaction baits with no takers. I wasn’t going to give up on the reaction bite that easy. My knowledge of Berryessa has showed me in the past that these fish don’t like the fog either. With water temperatures rising over the course of the week I knew a population of fished have moved up. These early fish don’t usually get going until the sun starts hitting bank, so I knew it was just a matter of time. As soon as we could make the run we did. We only fished for 30 min in the fog. The main lake is generally clear once the sun rises. Once in the main body we ran to slow tapering banks which were getting the most sun. We got bit right away on a white River2Sea Bling spinnerbait. We caught multiple fish off our first point.

We spent the rest of the day running points with sun and scored multiple fish of all bass species over 4lbs. Water temps started around 52 and ended the day around 56. We fished multiple baits all day with the top performers being the River2Sea Bling, River2Sea Biggie in craw color, Single Keitech in shad colors and a D&M chatterbait white on white w/fluke trailer. Just remember this time a year the bite gets better as the day goes on.
