This morning a 7-pound brown trout was caught at Lake McSwain – and 1,500 pounds of trout were planted just in time for the upcoming three-day weekend. Lester Yamaguchi, of Atwater, was fishing from the shore between the boat ramp and the campground using a blue-and-silver Castmaster when he hooked the enormous brown.

There is plenty of room for day-use recreation and fishing at Lake McSwain this weekend. However the campground is full. Campsites are are still available Lake McClure’s Barrett Cove. The South Ramp is also now open at Barrett Cove
