Chetco Update
1-7-2016
Andy Martin
Steelhead season is off to a great start on the Chetco and Smith rivers. We have been catching big numbers of hatchery steelhead in the lower Chetco, while the Smith has a good mix of bigger wild fish along with some hatchery steelhead. We have been catching 4 to 6 steelhead a day on most trips with 10 steelhead on our best day the last two weeks. Currently the rivers are in good shape after being blown out most of December. We should have peak season style fishing for the next two months. Many of the steelhead we have been catching have been taken on row cured with Pautzke's BorxOFire cure but we've also caught several on plugs, particularly the 3.5 MagLip. Aside from my boat, Travis and Rye also are running trips for me so I have room to get you on the water throughout the season. Call 541-813-1082 or visit www.wildriversfishing.com to book a trip.
