Shogun Fishing Report

Hey folks- We had another unbelievable trip down to the island. Our last full day of fishing was in very tough conditions. Sustained 25 knot winds with gust up to 40 and not much current but we still were able to scratch all day. The bulk of the fish were 55-90# with at least 6 going over 100#! The fish bit both 60# & 80# Flurocarbon well. Our bait this trip was a little in the small side but luckily we found a box of mackerel and a box of bigger sardine to use as hook bait. The mackerel is a little bit harder to fish than the sardine because of its tendency to swim back to the boat or not swim at all without some encouragement. But, the bulk of the fish over 100# have been caught on the greenies. Our last morning the weather greased off, the current was pulling strong and the fish were biting nails. We kicked the anchor over on a small fan of fish we’d seen in the sonar but shortly after getting the anchor to hang a school got on us. We kept 6-12 going until we had to leave. All you had to do was get a bait away from the boat and you were bit. We hooked several fish on 100# flurocarbon! We ended up with over 60 fish in less than four hour with at least 7 over 100#! What a way to end the trip! We have a few days off for thanksgiving for some much needed family time. Our next trip leaves on 11/27. As nice as it is to have a few days we can’t wait to get down there and do it again! Tight lines and hope to see you on the water soon!

Hey folks- We rolled down in calm seas and had a light westerly breeze arrive on scene about 1330. We had barely pulled the throttles back to trolling speed when we bumped into a sonar school in deep water. After throwing a chilling and laying the boat adrift we hung fish almost immediately. We landed 10 beautiful tuna out of our first drift and then found a spot to throw the anchor down. We picked on the anchor until dark,...... Read More
