Steady miles gained

12/01/15 An easy day of slow going unhurried, unharrired, and unconcerned – for anglers anyway; as it should be. Of course even on the easiest of travel days our responsibilites are no less, and professional vigilance is mandatory. Current status of all things in our control is well. Weather and sea state could use a little improvement, grumpy is a fair description to be sure, but our heading and speed is with it, and a comfortable ride is the result. Rigging and preparation is eventually in store for this festive group of revelers. Though not much has been done thus far a lot stands to be accomplished in the next day or two. A day to settle in and unwind, that's how this one will be recorded. As for today's photo I borrowed again from my old friend David Itano's archive courtesy of a tagging voyage in 2012 sponsored by ISSF. This image, taken inside a purse seine net shortly before these doomed Bigeye tuna, yellowfin tuna, and skipjack meet their maker, is worthy of a long hard look. There's a lot going on in there; take a minute and really peer into the layers – very cool.
