Hey folks
The action started about 8 am today and was pretty steady until after lunch when it really picked up. We kept 6-12 going through the afternoon and evening and all big fish. Many epic battles ensued, some lost most won. The average fish was 90# and we had somewhere between 15-20 over 100# with the two biggest going 138 and 156! Epic fishing is still going on and we are enjoying every second of it.

If you are in any of the upcoming trips make sure you bring the right gear. Two speed reels are a must! No short whippy fiberglass rods. An ideal setup would be a Penn Torque 40 loaded with 80# spectra and a 6.5-7.5 medium heavy or heavy rod rated to fish 50-80# line. That would be your 60# Flurocarbon setup. Next size up would be a Penn International 16 or comparable with 100# spectra and a 6-7 foot rod rated to fish 60-100 for your 80# Flurocarbon. Nothing less than 50# Blackwater Flurocarbon should be going in the water at anytime. In my opinion there is no Flurocarbon equal to Blackwater so pay the extra few bucks and get it. 4/0 and 5/0 circle hooks are what you want to use. We use the Eagle Claw Trokar 619. Super Mutu are fine and comparable from other companies. Bring a 100# trolling outfit for fishing the dropper loop mans plenty of 16-20 oz sinkers.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8030 to get in on the action.

Hey folks- The morning was spent finishing up our rigging and tying on fresh Flurocarbon. Charlie held a bait hooking seminar; showing the proper ways to belly, neck and nose hook a bait. Captain Russ also gave another on deck seminar on how to pull on big fish in the corner and how not to get caught in a bad situation while fighting a fish in the stern. We arrived at our destination and started looking around about...... Read More
