Weather was excellent. Our morning began at 1:15am when I was awakened to hear that Dharyl Shelbourne was in extreme pain. With 4 of the best doctors in the country aboard, it was quickly determined that Big D needed to be air-flighted to a hospital. Luckily we were anchored just below Avalon Bay at Catalina. Big D was on his way by helicopter to Torrance Memorial by 3:15Am and we left the island to go fishing.
Fishing Friday for Bluefin was very poor. By 8am most of us were on a course toward San Diego where Bluefin and Yellowfin were caught the day before.
We ended up with a very unprodcutive day of fishing and probably one of the toughest trips I have ever ran. Timing is extremely important and our timing was poor. We are very thankful for the wonderful group of passengers we had aboard.
By the way, Big D was released from the hospital today, August 17th. He is on his way home after emergency Gall Bladder surgery.
Thank you,
