Hey folks-

At about 0430 we started driving around looking for a school and mapping out the temp break. Just before daylight the sonar lit up on a nice school of BFT. After throwing some bait the school settled in nicely and we began to hook a couple fish right away. This turned out to be the typical bluefin plunker keeping 1-3 fish going and hooking fish in the long soak and on flatfall jigs. The bite died about 1030 and we picked up and started looking around. There was fish sign literally everywhere but the bluefin would not bite or react at all and the yellowfin in this area were small, not what this group was after. We decided to head south to another area of water to look for the cow BFT that were around the last few weeks then head into yesterday’s yellowfin area.

We found several spots of the bigger BFT down the way but they were not in any mood to play. They would not even let us get close enough to throw some bait at them. It is encouraging to know that these monsters are still around and that we may have a chance at them in the near future when they go on the chew. It was a short jump to where we caught the yellowfin yesterday and as soon as we got into the area a school was waiting for us. We had steady action until dark in nice grade yft, a BFT and a few dorado. We are going to head back out to the bluefin zone for the morning. Wish us luck and we will check back in tomorrow. Oh yeah, and the weather is flat calm, can’t get much better than this!

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8030 to get in on the action.
