Shogun Fishing Report

Hey folks-

We had a bumpy ride up the line last night and slid into the anchorage of Geronimo Island about 0700. We splashed the kayaks first and then the skiffs. The water here last week was 56 degrees with a brown tint to the water but just over the last several days 63+ degree green water had miss in so we were very anxious to get into the kelp and start fishing. It was a bit slower than we had expected and experienced in past years but the quality of fish that we have grown accustomed to here was still evident. Almost all the calico bass were 6-9#, a couple we think were over ten pounds but with the scale left back on the big boat we will call them 9+. There were sheets of red crab around which this year has become a standard sight at many spots is our theory on why the bite was a little slow. All the fish were round as watermelons and you could see the claws of the crabs sticking out of the throats of the fish. It didn’t look like you could fit another one in them. All in all a good day with the last run of the day being the best action. Most passengers always want to be in the first morning run of the day but many times the afternoon and evening are the best runs as the sun has warmed the fish and increase there aggressiveness. We are traveling back up to San Martin tonight where we will fish our last day. Wish us luck we will check in tomorrow.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8030 to get in on the action.
