Ending our fishing time with a morning of steady action on mixed grade yellowfin tuna didn't hurt; a little fishing and catching goes a long way prefaced by an over abundance of the opposite. We did a lot of prospecting this run searching for the goods – something better than scratch fishing and something in a size class consistent with long range standards. It was a tall order. Lucky kelp fishing offshore is what it is right now. And in the luck department we definitely fell a little short; fishing luck that is. Sometimes they are right on the bow no matter which way one turns. And sometimes pure determination and perserverance can override an ocean's refusal to yield. And then there are those rare times, for us and our close colleagues, when no matter how much time and effort we apply the big hit doesn't come. But that is certain to change. Remarkable transformations are occuring daily as this ocean transitions and “El Nino” takes over. Regardless of results on this outing make no mistake about the quantity, quality, and variety of fish around; they just haven't piled up quite yet and organized. I said it earlier in the voyage: right now there is a little bit of fish just about everywhere; a good sign of incredible fishing to come. And it most certainly will. Fortunately we head in for tomorrow's turnaround with more than a little something for the effort. Between the time spent offshore and heavenly afternoon passed apart from the grind in scenic and variety heaven we put together a voyage ripe with good times. Fishing results were slimmer than we prefer, a rare but inevitalble result when one spends as much time on the ocean as we do, but that of course is the reality of fishing. Captain Randy Toussaint is heading up the next four day run departing tomorrow. Rest assured that things will get back on track on the production end of things. It is time. Old “Lucky” has a way of making it happen no matter what the odds. Look for reports of glory to commence following departure day tomorrow.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
