Good morning folks. We spent our first day in the upper zone looking for Bluefin. We saw a little sign and actually drifted with a school for about 45 minutes. We not only had meter sign but a couple of boils to verify what we were seeing. We also found some yellowfin once we got into the warmer water, but the size that we came across were all throwbacks. Pretty mellow dramatic when we come from down below to come up and see 5-12 lb yellowfin. There were a few kelps that we found, and we were able to crank on some yellowtail at times, however the Bluefin are the main attraction. So with time and bait left we are back on the move and we hope to find a biting school before the forecasted weather comes up. We need a little luck, so please wish it for us and we will keep trying. It appears that things are just down right now because we never saw any top water activity besides the stop in which we drifted with that one school. Usually, good Bluefin fishing will be synonymous with boils, breezers, boilers, flatspots, jumpers etc..... and we had none of the above yesterday. Even the commercial activity is very slow right now as none of the seiners that we did see were active, and they were just drifting. Hoping that today is the day! thanks for checking in!
