Last week it looks like the camper's kids took fishing very seriously. They came out in full force and caught lots of fish. The Catfish dominated the picture board as far as biggest fish this week. The majority of the fish netted this week were Bass, using topwater plugs like Hula Poppers or worms or crawdads. Larry Saclayan thought 7/2 must be his lucky day when he caught a huge Rainbow Trout on his 1st cast from shore. He was tossing Nightcrawlers down by the dam and on his 1st cast he did bring in a 6 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow.

The Mullins Clan brought in a 12 lb. Catfish which happened to be the biggest fish of the week! Too bad they weren't in the weekly derby huh! They fished near the bridge using Nightcrawlers. Phylis & (Jelly Belly) Cunningham were trolling Needlefish and caught a beautiful 3 lb. 4 oz. Largemouth Bass by the power lines. Crawdads off the dock netted 2 nice Bass for Faith, Jasmine, and Zanea. Lance Cannon took home a 2 lb. 14 oz. Bass from Elmer's Cove while tossing a Rattletrap lure. Winner of this week's derby with a 2 lb. 14 oz. Bass is Jeff Garmeson of Rancho Cordova who bought a $5.00 ticket and won $37.50. Congratulations Jeff you are a winner!!

Bley Johnson sure beat the odds this week, he captured a 6 lb. 12 oz. Catfish on a Redworm. Great job award goes to Bley for sure! The dock proved to be a hot spot for Aaron Bernal who caught Bass, Bluegill, and trout on worms. The Evans family also used worms up near the bridge and caught a 3 lb. 8 oz. Catfish.

Don Cunnigham caught a "blue tagged" Trout (a $10 value) trolling a Needlefish near the dam. Mitch Parra of Nevada landed a 2 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow under the powerlines using crawlers.

Trollers are only successful if they can troll really really slow and generally around 35 foot depth. The fishermen that I've talked to are using their trolling motors to troll slow enough, otherwise they've had no luck at all. Most of the trout have been caught on Powerbait or worms while "still fishing" or "drifting" under the power lines or further up towards the bridge. The weather was over 100 degrees most of the days this past week. Fish early in the morning or at night for your best chance of catching fish.
