Truckee River Fishing Report 11/29/11
11-30-2011
Matt Koles
Mild, is the key word weather wise up here. 50's in Truckee, 6o's in Reno. Water temps are in the -not bad- mid 40's in the desert, and cold, but average, low 40's, near Truckee. Hit 'em on the head, really, fish do not like to run your flies down this time of year. The dude with the best drift wins. Good drifts, and understanding what type of water to fish are your keys to success when the water gets cold. The mild weather has been keeping the fishing pretty good for it being almost December. Nymphing is your best bet, but streamer fishing can be good, as most fish are in slower deeper runs and pools. I'll be out all winter, nymphing, swinging on the two hander, and looking for risers. This plump rainbow ate a baeits nymph around noon today. Come up and join me on the Truckee River this winter.
