Early morning rain and afternoon winds didn't keep anglers from enjoying Prize Day. Trout bite was very good this week with anglers using Power Bait ( especially rainbow, salmon peach and garlic), night crawlers, jigs and lures to catch limits. Hot spots included the eastern and western shores of lake 3 as well as the northern and eastern shores of lake 2. Catfish were hitting night crawlers and shrimp on the western shores of lake 3 and 2. Anglers reported slower bass action. Bass were hitting senkos and night crawlers near the wall of lake 2 as well as the northern shore near the pump house of lake 3.

#3Trudy Repelate of Hesperia scored her 3 lbs 15 ozs rainbow using a meal worm and marshmallow combo while fishing the logged eastern shore of lake 3 at Jess Ranch Lakes and won first place in the adult division on Prize Day.

Matthew Watson of Rancho Cucamonga caught a 3 lbs 2 ozs trout using rainbow Power Bait from the northern shore of lake 2. Stewart Kwoh won second place in the adult division on Prize with a 2 lbs 4 ozs rainbow. He used salmon peach Power Bait and fished the eastern shore of lake 2. The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round. This year the Lakes' hatchery is amping up the weekly trout stockings with bigger fish overall.
