The Fly Shop
Baum has been a good spot to get a great workout fighting trout. In addition to the planted fish, there are a lot of wild Rainbows and we hear there are some very large fish down by the dam. Callibaetis are coming off in greater numbers especially up towards the dam. Sparse patterns work well here for these spring creek fish, the Sparkle Stacker Patterns are good, also the Griffith's Gnat is a staple. For nymphs, any of the PMD and Baetis patterns like the smaller #18 Olive Hotspot or the Sweet Pea are dependable patterns. Don't forget your midge and Wooly Bugger boxes. Balanced Leeches in black and olive under an indicator when the wind picks up can save the day here. Our guides have this place wired if you are looking for some tactical advice on fishing a great spring creek fishery with an expert!
