Best bets for weekend fishing
With warm, sunny weather forecasted across the state, this will be the perfect weekend to kick off some spring fishing.
- Trout stocking is underway in several zones – a couple dozen waterbodies have been stocked this week, and more will be stocked next week.
- River conditions in most locations should be excellent for winter steelhead fishing. With just a few weeks left in the season, better get out there while you can.
- Spring Chinook season has kicked off with fish being caught on the lower Rogue and seen on the North Umpqua.
- It's probably getting warm enough for the bass bite to start picking up in ponds and reservoirs. Fish in the afternoon when the water will be warmest.
- Herring have been spawning in Yaquina Bay.
Check the zone reports for more options.
Go trout fishing over spring break
We'll be stocking dozens of waterbodies in the next two weeks – just in time for spring break. To find out where, check the weekly trout stocking schedule. We also have trout stocking maps to help you find locations close to home.
Learn to hunt turkey
Just in time for the spring turkey season, ODFW is offering several turkey hunting workshops. Participants will learn how to set decoys and blinds, spring hunting tactics, shotgun safety, field dressing and cooking wild turkey, and turkey behavior, biology and conservation.
