Paul Clouse of Lafayette, Al Hurwitz of Saratoga, and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled San Pablo Reservoir on November 3, 2022. We initially had a “four-hour drought” from 8 AM until 12 noon, with zero bites. However, after numerous lure and tackle changes, we finally switched to Kastmasters trolled 15 feet below the surface. That did the trick, as we then hooked up with eight fish from12 noon until 2:45 PM! These included three Rainbow Trout and five Spotted Bass. We lost one nice several pound Trout at the side of the boat, but landed and released all the other seven fish. We applied scent liberally to all the lures. The Kastmasters obviously “matched the hatch”, which appeared to be small Shad species. Pictured below is Paul with a nice 1.5-1.75 pound Spotted Bass caught just off the rock wall on the northeastern shore. The fish were close to the shoreline in 15-20 foot water columns, and all were caught along the eastern shoreline between the dam and Scow Canyon. It was chilly today with the surface water temperature around 62-63 degrees. The water clarity was good. 

A reminder: trollers need to switch lures regularly if they are trolling through plenty of fish on the sonar unit (as we were doing), but not catching them. Today the Kastmaster worked for us.
