Flow Rates and Water Conditions

Water Conditions:  Fair

Flows are at 87 cfs as of 7/23

Fishing conditions and Hatches: Fair-Good

No further reports BUT the weather this week could really pick things up with expected rain and more importantly a big drop in temperature by mid week. I've only gotten one report this week but it was positive. Big  nymphs (#10-12) with plenty of action, mainly fish in the 8"-13" range and in the faster water. Flows are back up a little, we'll see how long that lasts. Water temperatures are still hanging in there and the bigger (# 12-16) midges from the reservoir are getting flushed into the river. . Temperatures are still holding in the 60's, we'll just have to keep an eye on it. In an attempt to be a glass half full kind of guy the one positive about the low flow levels, if nighttime air temperatures get down into the 40's the water temperatures downstream from the reservoir will be cooler in the morning even on hot days. Midges are all day long but mainly in the morning while the TINY BWOs (#22-26) are in the afternoon.  I haven't heard anything new about the evenings so I'll just leave up what I have. Also lots of midges and a good caddis hatch (#16s) from 7 until dark. Caddis are probably the most consistent, try skating an Elk Hair Caddis or fish Caddis Crawlers through the riffles. Scuds and Damsel nymphs in the slow water.
