Ely Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby at Comins Lake
2-6-2022
Nevada Department of Wildlife
Saturday was a great day for ice fishing at the Ely Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby at Comins Lake Just outside of Ely. Approximately 650 anglers registered for the event which raises money for college scholarships. While fishing was a bit slow, some very nice fish were caught and the weather was beautiful. Comins Lake is on the Steptoe Valley Wildlife Management Area and is home to trophy trout and bass. The ice was between 12 and 16 inches thick and should be safe for ice fishing for approximately another month depending upon the weather. If you have never been ice fishing but want to give it a try check out NDOW's Ice Fishing Podcast for information on the sport at https://soundcloud.com/.../ice-fishing-tips-and-gift... #icefishing #Ndow #nevadawildlife #fishing #Nevada
