Here it is morning of the 2022 NewJen team season opener on clearlake. Wind blowing good the tournament even blast off. We are boat 57 and our number finally gets called to blast off. With the hatches buttoned down and us all zipped up in our rain gear we were ready to make our first run. It was a bumpy went ride. We arrived at our first spot that was a little protected out of the wind and started throwing glide Baits and underpins out in front of docks. No luck throwing those and the wind was swirling and blowing right into were we were now. Not seeing much activity on the Garmin or 360 we decide to make our move to and area that was in about 10 to 12 ft of water with rock kinda spread all around. Wind was blowing right in there luckily we had spotlock. My partner and I started off cranking but no luck with those. Now we switched over and I was throwing an underspin and my partner Jerimiah was throwing a 6inch trash fish. Jerimiah hooked up right away and landed a nice one. I then hooked a nice one on the underspin that managed to throw. We sat on that spot till about 12:30 my partner putting on a clinic with the swimbait. At 12:30 the trolling motor started to go dead so we had to head to weigh in early and our weigh in was at 4pm. We headed back and managed a 5 fish limit that weighed 17.39 putting us in 13th place. Not a bad start to the 2022 season. Looking forward to the next one on Clear Lake Feb 19th. Tight lines out there. Have fun and remember take a kid fishing. They are the future of our sport.
