The mackinaw bite should pick up

Donner Lake has some good shore bite down by the boat ramp and between docks 1 and 10. Shore anglers are having some success off the boat ramp with powerbait, worms, or small lures. Anglers trolling for mackinaw should try fishing in 60 to 70 foot water column with various lures like kwikfish, large rapalas, and lyman lures. The mackinaw bite should pick up as they start to come into shallower water to spawn.

Donner Lake is currently at 64% capacity.
