Pyramid Lake Opener Prep and “The Gear up for the “Mid Event"!
9-24-2021
Bearfish Alliance Staff
It couldn’t come quick enough this year, and we are so stoked that the opener is around the corner on October 1! So with that being said you probably need to prep (if you haven’t already) for all the basic necessities for the ‘Mid. Cutties will more than likely be running a bit deep and probably chasing bait balls…so I would say that one prep method will be ready to get your deep water strip game on. Hard to say with out actually being on water to know where they are sitting, but I would suggest targeting deep drop off sections and possibly even getting the tube/pontoon out and getting past that second shelf. Tui Chub will be rampant so green/white/olive patterns are good starters but don’t be afraid to get experimental with darker colors especially if you end up running real deep or into the evening.
We will be hosting “The Gear up for the ‘Mid event” on 28 Sep 6-9pm at Battle Born Beer in Reno, NV to help ring in the new season. Gear displays, demo rods and reels, roll casting competition, raffle with prizes, and of course $5 beer and tacos! We will have products from Adamsbuilt, Loop Tackle, Semper Fli, Monic Fly Lines, BA High Desert Fly Fishing and Smith optics to name a few. Also we will have a biologist on hand from the USFWS to answer any questions you may have on the LCT’s plus reps from Trout Unlimited…not to mention Trout Creek Outfitters will be with us to help you with any fly fishing needs you may have. Event info at www.bearfishalliance.com and on IG @bearfishalliance. Hope you can make it and celebrate the opener! Tight Lines!
